On receipt
If the carton is damaged or accessories are missing, photograph it first and contact support. Do not power it on immediately.
2. Installing Drives
Always power off
You must unplug the power adapter before installing or swapping drives. The 08A does not support hot-swapping.
- Unscrew the rear retaining screws and remove the back cover
- Slide the 2.5″ or 3.5″ SATA drive into the bay, aligning data and power connectors
- Secure the drive with screws on both sides
- Refit the back cover and tighten the screws
Bay strategy
The two bays can be configured as RAID 1 (mirror) for data safety, or used as two independent pools for flexible capacity allocation.
3. Connecting and Powering On
- Connect the Gigabit Ethernet port to your router with the network cable
- Plug in the 12V 3A power adapter
- Press the front panel power button
- Check the indicators:
| LED | State | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Power (white) | Solid | Powered on |
| HDD ×2 (green) | Blinking | Drive read/write activity |
| ETH (green) | Blinking | Network activity |
Connect a display
Plug an HDMI 2.1 cable into a TV or monitor to see the boot screen and system status directly — much easier to debug. Output is supported up to 4K@60Hz.
4. Initializing FN OS
- From a computer on the same LAN, check your router's client list for the 08A IP address (or use a device discovery tool)
- Open
http://<device-ip>in a browser - Follow the wizard to:
- Set the administrator account and password
- Create the storage pool and choose a RAID mode
- Configure shared folders and access permissions
- Once done, access shared folders over the LAN via SMB / AFP
5. FAQ

|---|---|
| Power LED off | Verify the adapter is 12V 3A and the DC jack is fully inserted |
| Device IP not found | Confirm the cable is in the Gigabit port; check router DHCP client list |
| Drive not detected | Power off, reseat the drive, ensure the SATA connector is fully aligned |
| HDD LED not blinking | A storage pool must be created in the system before drives become active |
| High temperature | Ensure side vents are unobstructed and avoid direct sunlight |
